City Must Utilize Unused Agricultural Land for Urban Farming

City Council appreciates Jakarta Provincial Government in developing urban farming program through Gang Hijau (green alley).

Government can arrange cooperation agreement with unused agricultural land owners to develop this program

City Council's Commission B Head, Yusriah Dzinnun assessed, government should develop environmental greening program based on food tenacity. Such as to inventory unused agricultural land owned by private or individual parties that could be used for urban farming.

"Government can arrange cooperation agreement with unused agricultural land owners to develop this program," she mentioned at City Council Building, Tuesday (2/6).

Through that way, she continued, resident's vegetable harvest will not be only used for consumption, but also for trading. Jakarta Government should be active in giving training and marketing.

According to her, harvest from Gang Hijau urban farming program is only enough to be consumed by local residents due to limited land.

"Through large scale farming, its harvest could be packed and sold. So, it will be better to utilize more unused agricultural land," she conveyed.
